How to Turn Video Clips into an Ad

A single generation gives you a shot, and a sequence of shots gives you a story. This lesson takes the WAVE clips from earlier lessons and cuts them into a short ad with an opening, a product moment and an end card, then adapts the edit for horizontal, vertical and short placements.

What you'll learn

  • How to choose the few clips that tell the story
  • How to order and trim shots into a tight sequence
  • How to turn a still image into a usable shot with Crash Zoom
  • How to add sound and an end card, then cut versions for different placements

Treat every clip as one shot

By now you have several clips: product shots, lifestyle scenes, the surfer with the drink. Instead of treating each generation as a finished video, treat it as one shot of a future edit.

Pick the shots that have a job

You don't need everything you generated. Choose four or five clips that tell the story most clearly. For example: open with the surfer to set the mood, move to the product, add an action shot, and finish on a clean hero shot of the can.

Build a tight sequence

Put the shots in order in your video editor. The order matters more than the number of clips: every shot should move the viewer toward the product. Trim each clip to its best part. A 5-second generation often needs only 1.5–2 seconds in the edit.

Animate a still with Crash Zoom

If one of your images works better than the footage, use it too. Open Apps, then Camera Movements, pick Crash Zoom and upload the image. You get a 5-second clip with a fast push toward the subject, ready to drop into the sequence.

Add sound

Once the visual sequence works, add sound. Sound Design in Apps takes an MP4 up to 30 seconds and adds a soundtrack and sound effects that match the scene. Music and effects make separate shots feel like one piece.

Finish with an end card

Close on the product, the campaign line and the action you want the viewer to take, for example CHASE THE WAVE with the logo. Keep it in the same style as the images from the campaign.

Cut versions for each placement

Keep the full edit for horizontal placements, recrop a vertical cut for social, and shorten the sequence when you only have a few seconds. The format changes, but the product, character, colors and visual direction stay recognizable.

Your image campaign and your video ad share the same assets, so together they work as one campaign.
